Profiles for a greener working environment

Natural Greenwalls is a system for constructing walls on which green plants can grow decoratively - and vertically - in offices and public indoor spaces. The system consists of a wall-mounted profile onto which are hung pots or plant cassettes and the pipes needed for irrigation and drainage, making the system much cleaner and easier to service from day to day than any other plant wall system in existence.

Green plants for perfect working environments

An ingenious watering system from one pot to the next removes the danger of dripping, spillage or over-watering. The result: A perfect growing environment for the plants – and a greatly improved interior climate with less noise, fresher air, ideal humidity and a much healthier working environment.

The green wall can be made to any size, large or small. The largest existing installation is app. 122 square metres, but larger projects are in the pipeline, and Natural Greenwalls is in the process of establishing export dealerships across Europe.

A complex profile to support everything

The critical mounting profile for the system is produced by Primo. The profile itself, made with ABS or with fire-retardant plastics, is an extruded profile measuring 19.5 cm in width and delivered in 1-metre lengths. The geometry of the profile is highly complex and is produced with absolute precision, letting water pipes and plant pots to click into place without trouble.

The profile is wall-mounted and can be easily joined to other profiles, making it possible to extend the green wall to any length. The joining of two profiles is made easy by prepared holes and grooves, and all the post-extrusion preparation of the profiles is done by Primo, saving both transport time and additional operational costs.

A partner, not just a sub-supplier

“The fact that Primo is able to deliver complete and ready-to-use profiles cut into the right lengths is very important for us. Without this extra service, we would have to use another sub-supplier to cut and trim the profiles before we could use them – and that would make production slower and less cost-effective,” says Ulrich Grønning, CEO of Natural Greenwall and inventor of the patented system.

“We consider Primo to be a partner, not just a sub-supplier. Although our company is a relatively small customer for Primo, they take us every bit as seriously as every other customer they have. So when we approached Primo with our ideas, they were enthusiastic and dedicated from the very start. Their expertise was invaluable, especially as few extrusion companies can handle profiles as large as and complex as ours.”

Even though the profiles themselves are invisible in the finished plant wall, precision and finish are of the essence. “We need the profiles to be perfectly straight and uniform, because assembly has to be as easy as possible,” says Ulrich Grønning, “and Primo delivers exactly what we need.”
