Inlet profiles for wind turbines

Inlet profiles play a key role in the manufacturing of wind turbine blades by ensuring controlled and even resin distribution during the infusion process. By preventing dry spots and resin starvation, they support consistent quality and production reliability. Inlet profiles are typically manufactured from polypropylene (PP) plastics.

Sealing for monopiles

Thermoplastic (TP) sealing for the wind turbine monopiles are essential for the turbine’s 25+ year service life in harsh land and sea conditions. Primo ensures precise fit to each project’s monopile/transition-piece geometry, making installation easier.
Other sealing solutions for the entire wind turbine are described separately.

Blade root covers

Primo’s customised blade root covers are made from typically robust polymers. They are designed for light weight, durability, UV resistance and corrosion-free performance compared to metal covers.
Other covers are hub connection covers. They can be produced in flame-retardant or UV-stable materials as required, extending the life of hub components and minimizing turbine downtime for maintenance.

Cable holders

Primo’s cable holders protect and keep the cables neatly organized, to ease installation and maintenance. The customer-specific extruded plastic profiles (often in robust polyolefins like PP) can be made in long lengths and different shapes, reducing assembly joints and speeding up installation.

Gaskets for wind turbines

We offer a range of gaskets for various parts of the turbine, including the blades, access hatches, service doors, nacelle covers and control cabinets. These gaskets are essential for ensuring watertight and airtight closures, preventing corrosion and water ingress inside the turbine, and improving turbine longevity.

Polymer advantages

Wind turbine profiles are typically made from robust thermoplastics like polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), as well as engineered elastomers (e.g. EPDM or TPE). These materials combine high strength with low weight, allowing components to be strong yet lightweight.

They are weatherproof, resistant to corrosion and require virtually no maintenance even in harsh outdoor conditions, delivering outstanding durability over decades of service. 
Polymers also offer high design freedom – extruded profiles can be tailored into complex shapes or co-extruded blends that would be impractical in metal.
